East St. Louis is directly across the Mississippi River from Downtown St. Louis and the Gateway Arch National Park.
A recent addition to the city’s waterfront is the Gateway Geyser. On the grounds of Malcolm W. Martin Memorial Park, the fountain is the third-tallest in the world. The Gateway Geyser (1995), shoots water 630 feet in the air. It is the tallest fountain in the United States.
The Gateway Geyser was designed to complement the Gateway Arch across the river in St. Louis, it shoots water to a height of 630 feet (190 m), the same height as the arch.
King Fahd’s Fountain (1985) in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia at 853 feet is the tallest fountain in the world. The second tallest fountain is The World Cup Fountain in the Han-gang River in Seoul, Korea (2002), advertises a height of 663 feet.
